Why honey, and is it right for eczema-prone skin?

Honey has been used on skin for a very long time, and the reason is straightforward: it is a natural humectant, meaning it draws and holds moisture. On dry, eczema-prone skin, holding moisture is most of the work.

It is paired with colloidal oatmeal, a recognised skin protectant, so the formula supports the skin barrier and helps soothe and temporarily relieve itch and irritation in the same step, rather than asking you to layer several products at bedtime with a tired child.

Important if allergies are a factor. The formula is honey-based. If your child has a known allergy to honey, propolis or bee products, do not use it without speaking to your GP, pediatrician or pharmacist first. Please tell us or your doctor about any allergy rather than working it out by trial.

Always patch test. Apply a small amount to a small area and wait 24 hours before using it more widely. This applies to any new product, not just ours.

Carezema is a skin protectant cream that helps soothe and temporarily relieve the itch and irritation of eczema. It is not a medical treatment or a cure, and it is not a substitute for advice from your child's doctor.
